Beazley s plan for post office cyber cafes

The federal opposition has unveiled a plan to make county post offices on-line government
information centres.

The move is seen as an attempt to pre-empt the Coalition government's plans to deregulate
Australia Post.

Opposition Leader KIM BEAZLEY says about 2,500 post offices in regional Australia could
become cyber cafes for information on government services like health, social security
and jobs.

He says post offices would become one-stop shops for federal services under a Labor
