QLD:Travel writer Jim Shrimpton passes aged 79

BRISBANE, Feb 4 AAP - One of Australia's most respected journalists, travel writer
James Shrimpton, has died at the age of 79 after a brief battle with cancer.

Mr Shrimpton joined Australian Associated Press (AAP) in 1956, and the following year
married his wife Val who was a telegraphist with the company.

He began his career at the age of 15 as a newspaper copyboy later becoming a sports
reporter and sub-editor in Birmingham, England.

He worked for newspapers in Canada and the United States, before joining …
