GIANT AND HTS INTRODUCE ORIOLES MILLION DOLLAR MAGIC

WASHINGTON, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- With the 1996 Major League Baseball season set to begin April 1, Giant Food (AMEX: GFS.A), Home Team Sports (HTS) and the Orioles have teamed up to launch an exciting new sweepstakes that could enable a lucky fan to win $1,000,000.
The Orioles Million Dollar Magic sweepstakes is simple: If an Orioles player hits for "the cycle" -- a single, double, triple and a homerun -- during any of the 151 telecasts on HTS, WJZ, WNUV or WB50 this season, the fan whose contest entry was randomly selected prior to that game will win $1,000,000. In addition, the entry drawn for each televised game will automatically win a 27" Sony Stereo TV.
"This is going to be a very exciting season for Orioles fans, and Giant and HTS are pleased to give fans a chance to cheer for themselves as well," said Terry Gans, Giant's vice president of advertising and sales promotion. "If ever there was a team with players capable of hitting for the cycle, this is it."
Orioles Million Dollar Magic entry forms will be available at the checkouts in all 169 Giant and Super G stores in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. beginning Saturday, March 23rd. To enter, a customer should complete the entry form and deposit it in the ballot box prominently displayed in the front of each store. Weekly random drawings will be held to determine the $1,000,000 contestant for each televised game, and the contestant's name will be announced on TV prior to that game. Customers may enter the sweepstakes on every shopping visit to Giant, although all entries not selected each week will remain eligible for all future drawings throughout the season. The contest ends September 25, 1996.
