Local GA Police Department Tests Segway HTs.(Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department)(Human Transporters )(Brief Article)

The Savannah Morning News reported last week that the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) in Savannah, GA, has issued Segway, LLC's battery-powered, two-wheel Human Transporters (HTs) to some of its walking beat officers to determine if the self-balancing scooters provide officers with more speed and mobility.
The Morning News said SCMPD is testing both street-ready and all-terrain versions of the HTs to determine which model best fits the city's needs. The newspaper said the city is expected to purchase "two or three" of the HTs, which have a base price of approximately $4,500.
