Nevada County Abandons Proposed Ban on Segway HTs.

The Las Vegas Sun reported last week that the Clark County, NV board of county commissioners will not consider a proposed ordinance banning the use of Segway, LLC's two-wheel, battery-powered Human Transporters (HTs) on the sidewalks adjoining the Las Vegas Strip.
The newspaper said commission members decided to remove the proposed ban from its agenda after receiving complaints from a local HT dealer that rents and sells the electric scooters, as well as offers tours on the devices along the Strip. According to the Sun, the county plans to conduct additional research to evaluate whether the use of HTs poses a risk to pedestrians sharing the crowded Strip sidewalks.
The Sun noted that HTs rented by Segway of Las Vegas are modified to have a top speed of four miles per hour, with inexperienced riders required to attend a one-hour training class.
